Epicurean Delights: Unveiling Rome’s Culinary Marvels – A Gastronomic Journey through Must-Try Eateries!

If you are big foodies like we are then you will literally eat your way through Rome! The food is just too good to not try it all. This is why we have created a list, tasted and reviewed for you to try whilst on your city break to Rome.

Trinita Bar – Just a short walk away from then top of Spanish Steps.

Review: This independent cafe/bar was in a lovely quiet spot away from the hustle and bustle of the Spanish Steps. We enjoyed some Aperol Spritz, Lemonchello Spritz, ham & cheese focaccia sandwich, arancini balls and some sweet treats. Would definitely recommend here as a little stop off.

Giolitti

Review: This cafe does some amazing gelato! For €5.50 you get 3 scoops of gelato in either a cone or tub. In one of the cones was pistachio, caramelised fig and sour cherry and the other was lemon and raspberry. Both gelatos tasted amazing! We thought that this was a reasonable price for the size of the cone.

Price: 10/10 Great prices for a city.

IL Chianti Osteria Toscana – This is just off of the Trevi Fountain.

Review: This restaurant is so beautiful and you can either sit inside or outside. They have a large menu with all the Italian cuisine that you could think of! And they specialise in lots of delicious wine! Starting with some beer and Prosecco whilst we browsed the menu, we decided to try the pizzas, opting for a traditional tomato, basil and mozzarella and then a bacon topped pizza. Both of these were delicious with a thin crispy base. Accompanied with a bottle of red wine.

Pastasciutta – A short walk from The Vatican City.

Review: This takeaway style pasta was incredible! With only 6 flavours including Cacio e Pepe, Carbonara, Ragu, Truffle, Pesto and Tomato, this pasta really is delicious. We tried the Cacio e Pepe and the Pesto and it did not disappoint! It really is the perfect pick me up after all that walking. The pasta is made fresh and you can see it being made in front of you.

Trentaquattro Roma XXXIV – just off of the Piazza Navona

Review: The manager was very kind and even offered us free Prosecco when we sat down. Originally we were only going for a few drinks but we ended up getting a sharing board as well which was delicious. It allowed us to try different bits of cheese and meats. It was the perfect pair with the drinks!

Tucci – Pasta Making Class on the Piazza Navona

Review: This pasta making class was brilliant and is a must add to your Rome itinerary. We kindly got gifted this sponsored experience by Get Your Guide. You can book it here! Included in the experience included a glass of Prosecco to start, the fettuccini making, choosing your sauce to add to the pasta you have just made, then you sit outside with a glass of wine admiring the beauty of the Piazza Navona. Before you get served the freshly made pasta, you get some bruschetta to indulge with then you’ll get the pasta. Lastly to finish the experience off you can choose between a coffee or shot of lemoncello. 10/10 experience and we would recommend to anyone.

Cafe Roma – Great breakfast spot with a view of the Colosseum

Review: This cafe does great coffee and delicious authentic breakfast pastries. It has the perfect view of the Colosseum and to our surprise this did not change the price of the food and drinks, which is always a bonus! We expected the prices to have been inflated due to the location.

All’ Anitco Vinaio – BEST sandwich shop in Rome!

Review: This spot can be found just off of the square where the Pantheon is. The sandwiches are delicious and well worth the big queue! This is a very popular place and once you taste these incredible sandwiches, you’ll understand why. To the left, is the La Tricolour which includes carpaccio, stracciatella, cream of pistachio and hazelnuts bits. To the right, is the Italiana which is parma ham, buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes and “basilco” which was a white creamy sauce.

Osteria Bacco – Just round the corner from Trevi Fountain

Review: This restaurant did some of the BEST pasta in Rome. We had Gnocchi with mussels, tomato in a pesto sauce, carbonara, lasagne and then a tomato and basil pizza. Accompanied with some focaccia which was also very good! To finish we then had coffee. Though even though the food was incredible we must note that the service did not meet the same standard. To start with our food came before the wine and later got told that they had run out of that particular wine. They eventually brought another bottle out. Then when we ordered coffees they got forgotten about and ended up coming a long while later. To top things off when we got the bill they added a service charge… the only place in Rome to add one. Consequently the only place in Rome to add a service charge and the service was the worst.

Pompei Tiramisu – Next door to the Osteria Bacco

Review: This was really good and they had loads of different flavours! These included strawberry, pistachio, salted caramel and the traditional tiramisu! We tried them all and they tasted amazing. Once we tasted them, we understood why it was so busy and had a constant stream of customers going in.
