Day 1 – 2

Lunch:

Afternoon: 

3. Skipton Canal Boat Tour

  • Highlights: Take a leisurely boat ride on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. Enjoy scenic views and learn about the history of the canal.

    • Activities: Hike through the gorge; it’s a short but adventurous trek from the road.
    • Distance from Lister Arms: 1.5 miles
    • Janet’s Foss
    • Description: A small waterfall and pool in a woodland setting.
    • Activities: Enjoy a pleasant walk from Malham village, and perhaps a dip in the pool on a warm day.
    • Distance from Lister Arms: 0.9 miles
    • Malham Tarn
    • Description: A glacial lake surrounded by limestone pavement and moorland.
    • Activities: Ideal for walking, bird watching, and enjoying the serene landscape.
    • Distance from Lister Arms: 3.5 miles

Afternoon: 

2. The Old Barn Cafe

  • Description: A cozy café in Malham, perfect for a light lunch or a sweet treat.
  • Activities: Relax with a cup of tea or coffee, and enjoy homemade cakes.
  • Distance from Lister Arms: 0.2 miles

    • Activities: Explore the town, visit the market (held on Tuesdays), and consider taking a scenic train ride on the Settle-Carlisle Railway.

Day 3 – 5

Accommodation: The Craven Heifer – Addingham

Day 3: Exploring Addingham and Nearby Attractions

Morning:

  1. Breakfast at The Craven Heifer: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your accommodation.
  2. Stroll Around Addingham: Take a leisurely walk around the village. Explore its charming streets, historic buildings, and local shops.

Mid-Morning:

 3. Visit Bolton Abbey: A short drive from Addingham, Bolton Abbey offers stunning ruins, picturesque walks along the River Wharfe, and beautiful countryside. Explore the abbey, walk the stepping stones, and enjoy the tranquility of the area.

Lunch:

 4. Lunch at The Devonshire Arms: Located near Bolton Abbey, this hotel and spa offer a delightful lunch menu featuring local produce.

Afternoon:

 5. Walk the Strid Wood and Valley of Desolation: After lunch, enjoy a scenic walk through Strid Wood and explore the Valley of Desolation, where you can see beautiful waterfalls and diverse flora.

Evening:

 6. Return to Addingham: Head back to Addingham and relax at The Craven Heifer.

Day 4: Grassington and Wensleydale Creamery

Morning:

  1. Breakfast at The Craven Heifer: Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel.
  2. Drive to Grassington: Head to the charming village of Grassington, located about a 30-minute drive from Addingham.

Mid-Morning: 

3. Explore Grassington: Wander through the quaint streets of Grassington, known for its stone cottages, boutique shops, and cafes. Visit the Grassington Folk Museum to learn about the local history and heritage.

4. Walk Along the River Wharfe: Take a leisurely walk along the River Wharfe, enjoying the beautiful scenery and tranquility of the Yorkshire Dales.

Lunch: 

5. Lunch in Grassington: Enjoy lunch at one of Grassington’s lovely cafes or pubs. The Devonshire Hotel or The Foresters Arms are great options offering local dishes.

Afternoon: 

6. Drive to Wensleydale Creamery: After lunch, drive to the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes, which is about an hour’s drive from Grassington.

7. Visit Wensleydale Creamery: Explore the Visitor Centre, where you can learn about the history of Wensleydale cheese, watch cheese-making demonstrations, and sample a variety of delicious cheeses. Don’t miss the opportunity to shop for some cheese to take home.

Evening: 

8. Return to Addingham: Head back to The Craven Heifer to relax after your day of exploration and tasting.
