Dare we say it? I know summer isn’t over yet but Autumn is slowly creeping in. And don’t get me wrong I love summer but I am so excited for autumn. The thought of pumpkins, hot chocolates, orange trees everywhere… I love it.
Which also brings us to, in our opinion, the best time to travel and explore new places! There is nothing worse than wanting to explore a new country or city in summer. You end up being stuck in crowds 24/7. You get ripped off for pretty much everything. Sometimes, depending on the destination, it can be too warm.
Off-peak travel has always been our favourite, you just get a much better experience. From more authentic experiences, cheaper flights, more reasonable accommodation costs and experiencing what it is like to be a ‘local’.

So we have created an ultimate off- season destination list for the autumn winter:
Starting with Europe:
- Experience the popular cities such a Rome, Barcelona, Paris and Edinburgh. If your wanting to experience a true autumn in the UK Edinburgh is your place!
- Greece
- Iceland
- Malta
Next we have destinations in Asia:
- Thai Islands (Gulf of Thailand)
- Japan
- China
- Taiwan
And lastly destinations in North America:
- Hawaii
- Mexico
- Canada
- Unites States
This autumn we’re heading to Paris and the United States. And we will be checking back at this list for another trip around early December time. Which will be in Europe.
For reference, most of Europes off-season is between November and March. We went to Rome in March and it was a pleasant time to go. Though the crowds were starting to get up again. We can definitely recommend Sicily in December, we went last year and it was a great experience. We got to see local Christmas festivals, travel around the island and stay in hotels at a decent price.
Most of Asia’s off-peak season is between October and March. With North Americas been slightly different. Hawaii is September to mid-December. Mexico is May to mid-December. Canada is November to April and Untied States is November to March.
