Ultimate Guide to Rome: Top Activities and Restaurants

Rome never fails to impress us. We have visited many times. From our experiences, we have created the best guide to make the most of your trip to the eternal city.

Whether you’re a history lover, food enthusiast or just love to explore a new city. We will be listing our top activities, restaurants and more.

Starting with the MUST do activities in Rome:

MUST try restaurants/cafes:

  • Dar poeta – Located in Trastevere, the BEST pizza we had on our Italian trip.
  • Taverna 51 – Located in Trastevere, the pasta dishes here were delicious and reasonably priced.
  • Two Sizes – Authentic Italian tiramisu with a twist! We loved the Strawberry and Pistachio flavoured ones.
  • Da Enzo – Located in Trastevere, if you are wanting something other than pasta we recommend here. It is however on the pricer side.
  • II Chianti Osteria – Located near Trevi Fountain, great pizza and pasta.
  • Osteria Bacco – Located near Trevi Fountain, the BEST carbonara we’ve ever had.
  • Giolitti – our favourite gelato in the whole of Italy!
  • Grom – Another great spot for gelato.
  • All’Antico Vinaio – This spot is quite “insta” famous but the sandwiches are delicious.

Hotel Recommendations:

  • History Suite Essence – For those who want more of an apart/hotel feel this hotel is perfect. The rooms are modern, clean and come with a coffee machine. You can get more capsules from the kitchen area if you needed more.
  • Hotel Elite – This hotel is perfectly located only a 6 minute walk from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. It is a budget friendly hotel with a modern and clean rooms. We would stay again!
